In the sky, it is located near the yellow naked-eye star, Beta Canum Venaticorum. With an apparent V-band magnitude of 10.18 NGC 4244 lies approximately 14 million light years] away.<p><i>Note: click on the image to view it at the full resolution of the uploaded image, then click again for actual size.</i><p>

The images used in this rendering were taken during an almost full moon when the conditions were quite windy (20 km/hr).
